Education enables people to break out of the poverty trap and enhance the quality of life for themselves and their community.  Improving the future one child at a time through education is what the Maisha International Orphanage is all about. Maisha’s Founder and Director, Beatrice Williamson, is a living proof of the power of one person’s generosity.

When Beatrice was growing up in Kisumu, Kenya, a Swedish family sponsored her, paying for her to attend primary school and two years of college. The education Beatrice received allowed her to enter into a future that would have never been possible otherwise. “They gave me a second chance in life,” Beatrice says of her benefactors. “Without them, I would be nobody today.

Maisha International Orphanage provides scholarship for students attending preschools, primary and secondary in the rural villages of Nyanza through our sponsor a Child education Program.  We are currently offering tuition fees, text books and school supplies, uniforms, and lunch to 285 orphans and destitute students.

In remote rural communities, schools are often overlooked and chronically under-resourced Maisha International has made its School Improvement Program a priority for the past two years. The program consists of infrastructure assistance by way of construction of classrooms, proper desks, digging wells for clean water, building sanitation, fencing, and every summer sending a team from USA to teach English. Currently we are actively working with Ayaro, Kadiju, Omungi schools.
